Since the 1930's, Suunto has been a leader in compass design and manufacturing. The high-quality liquid-filled Suunto SK-8 dive compass has raised the bar for dive compass standards. With 2-3 times larger tilt potential than traditional diving compasses, the SK-8 boasts easy-to-read numerals and improved stabilization for enhanced readability. The upgraded magnet allows for both northern and southern hemisphere models to be used across a wider geographic area.

By adding the SK-8 compass to various Suunto Combo consoles, you can customize a personal console to suit your specific needs. For instance, attaching the SK-8/DS compass to the CB-One console creates a CB-Double configuration. Alternatively, you can transform your CB-One into a CB-Two by adding an SK-8 compass on top. Adding the SK-8/DS compass to the reverse side of the CB-Two In Line results in a CB-Double In Line configuration, while a CB-Three In Line console is achieved by placing an SK-8 compass on top of a Two In Line console.

Compass Balancing is crucial due to the earth's magnetic field's inclination, which affects the horizontal plane of a compass needle based on the latitude of use. Previously, compasses were divided into five balance zones for different geographical regions. Suunto's 'Two Zone System' simplifies things by only requiring consideration of two balance zones - northern and southern hemispheres. This means a Suunto compass designed for the north will work effectively in the south, and vice versa.

The Suunto Combo consoles offer various configurations and operating modes, such as Air, Nitrox, and Gauge. Programmable for oxygen mixtures ranging from 21% to 50%, the consoles display oxygen partial pressures from 17.4 psi to 23.2 psi. Altitude adjustable up to 10,000' (3,000 meters), the consoles also provide maximum and operational depth displays, a temperature gauge with 1.5 DegreeF (1 DegreeC) accuracy, imperial/metric programmable options, decompression stop data, audible alarms, a 36-hour profile and logbook memory, a backlit display for easy reading in low light and night conditions, and a 0 to 5,000 psi (360 bars) display.
